About Us
Wearing Grief exists as a testament to the path we found ourselves on after experiencing a devastating loss in our family. In May of 2021, our oldest daughter died suddenly and tragically. Our entire world shattered. While we are able to hold deep gratitude for the 21 years full of life together, we had to find a way to navigate this new painful reality, in the hopes of not only traversing our way through the dark terrain we found ourselves in, but in the hopes of finding a way to continue living.
Wearing Grief was created as an outlet for our emotions, and also as a way to normalize the subject of grief. After losing our daughter, we discovered that expressing grief is often viewed in a negative light. But here is the truth: our grief is, now and forever, a part of us. It is ever-present in our daily lives, and in how we see and interact with the world now. We recognize that grief, like so many things, can be expressed in a healthy way, if people are just given the tools to do so.
We believe that grief can and should be shared, talked about, and supported in any way possible. When we are in the trenches, battling our waves of grief, expression by any means necessary can be a soothing way to usher in healing, and maybe even a little hope.
We know now that healing isn't a destination. It's a way of life. We are also learning that healing is not the same for everyone. Some people need a quiet shoulder to lean on. Some people need to yell and scream. What helps one person to heal, may not work for another, because there is no right or wrong way to grieve. Healing is not linear. Grief, and the healing that can be found within it, can be a long and solitary journey. But it doesn’t have to be a lonely one. We believe that no one should have to face it alone. We hope to be a torch for others who are in the darkest moments of desperation, holding the light in the face of suffocating pain.
We sincerely desire that as you walk this path, or find yourselves accompanying someone who is, that our offerings bring comfort and encouragement to your life. We hope that they can help you to normalize the effects that grief has on people, directly, and indirectly.
Each item is made to order, and only found on our website. The proceeds from our store will help us further our efforts to bring health, healing, and community to all of us who are touched by grief.
We hope that our products can help everyone live with a little bit of grace, in a world where it is so common to face these battles alone.
